Are you sick of cookies yet? Wait, is that even possible? I really don’t think so. I know that I could NEVER get sick of cookies. But in case you are, I have a non-cookie Christmas dessert recipe for you. It is called Christmas Crack, aka Chocolate Saltine Toffee. Why is it called Christmas crack? Because you can’t stop eating the stuff! It is sooo good. I don’t know why I did this to myself. I love toffee, so naturally I haven’t been able to stop eating this since I made it. It is December 1 – let the Christmas recipes begin! I have a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit until Thanksgiving and my birthday have passed. But once they are over, I start to get so excited about Christmas. TheBetterHalf and I just got back from an amazing trip to Paris and Brussels (more to come about our trip in a future post) and both cities were all decked out for Christmas. It was gorgeous, and got me in such a festive mood!
So when I woke up at 5:00am this morning because of jetlag, naturally my thoughts immediately went to Christmas baking. And since it is a weekend morning, I focused on doughnuts, one of our favorite weekend breakfasts since I bought my doughnut pan. And so gingerbread doughnuts were born! Continue reading
It is Thanksgiving Week, Day 4! Time for some potatoes, because what is Thanksgiving without at least two types of potatoes. I love traditional mashed potatoes (smothered in gravy of course) but since that recipe is fairly basic, I decided to make sweet potatoes. There are so many ways to prepare sweet potatoes, but I went for a candied sweet potato casserole topped with glazed pecans! You could top this one with marshmallows instead if you are so inclined, but TheBetterHalf is not a marshmallow fan. He actually said “It’s Thanksgiving, not summer camp.” So that’s that.
